Art Exhibition Review By: Natasha Azeez International Sculptor and artist, Winslow Craig A.A with his 20 year old master piece. PC: Natasha Azeez  Renowned Guyanese sculpture Winslow Craig A.A, Art lecturer at the University of Guyana and International award winning sculptor, opened his art exhibition entitled, “A Journey and Exploration of Forms” on February 14, 2019, at Guyana’s national Art gallery, Castellani House. The soft instrumental music filled the atmosphere on this romantic evening while patrons were in ‘awe’ of the magnificent wooden and wire sculptures. Of the 11 breath-taking works much attention was drawn to the spell bounding 20 year old sculpture which travelled from New Zealand. This piece was created over 20 years ago which unfortunately could not have made it to the shores of Guyana until now.  The artist works gives a detailed representation of his patience, discipline and creative vision to transform “scrap, discarded materials” into masterpie...

Meera Lee Patel did it again from her bestselling journal ‘Start Where You Are’ comes ‘My Friend Fear,’ “she has taken the big scary concept of fear and crafted it into a personal yet universal love letter.” Meera is an author and illustrator that was raised in New Jersey, who uses her talent in her books visually. She released this amazing journal My Friend Fear Finding Magic in the Unknown in the month of November, 2017. In My friend fear, Meera took us through a path that explained when we look deeply into the causes of fears it will always come down to one solution and that solution is not a magical solution to our problems like the all other traditional self-help journals would but it’s a solution of us being by ourselves at the end of the day. Whatever may be the problem or whatever we are worried about for example being rejected by friends, being rejected by the one person you love, being afraid to try new things or as Meera mention being afraid to move to another town, all of...

FILM REVIEW

Sierra Burges is a Loser One look at this film would make you question whether the amount of drama portrayed by the characters should be encouraged among young teens. The film Sierra Burgess is a loser developed from a deliberate act contrived against Sierra played by Shannon Purser. Veronica’s conspiracy resulted in Burgess obsessive love for Jamey. Sierra a major character in the film, plays a split personality role which made her both insecure and determined. She mentioned in the film during a close-up shot in her bathroom “You are a magnificent beast.” as a way of strengthening her mind to deal with the daily taunt she faced from her rival, Veronica. However, Veronica played by Kristine Froseth and Sierra then settle into an unintended friendship that encouraged Sierra to fake her identity.  Sierra’s love soon escalates into uncontrollable feelings for Jamey played by Noah Centineo. Though the film tells a romantic story, the director Ian Samuels based the movie in a hig...
